Hold me back or I will vomit. How silly can so many of my fellow readers be! YES, I am glad that war may be averted; but does anyone believe this horrible man does not have another motive. Evil, Godless, communist who hates and hurts gay individuals among his his other evil deeds. This man is the lesser of two evils; i.e. his hate vs. WMD. He and Assad are the personification of evil. If he does not follow through, I hope the President follows through with his threat!
The point, Steve, would be that the pretext of any religious dogma doesn't preclude nefarious deeds done in their name. Thus, they are no better than the atheists you name.
The truth lies within.
Excellent piece on the ongoing hypocrisy of the Catholic Church. As a former Catholic, I agree with all of your comments except that "the Church does incalculable good..." Its good deeds are tied to indoctrination and heavily tainted by the personal pain that its doctrines have wrought.
Would you rather they come here and do their nasty deeds, and have many, many loved ones murdered at their hands?
i live in deeds not in years!

I think it is because they are more familiar with Malala. Also she is they youngest ever, average age of recipient - 62 - and you have to admit that is quite astonishing considering she was shot in the head prior to her deeds.
It's not out of disrespect for the man, he just is not as well known.
They both are worthy of the Peace prize. If only there were more who would be so worthy.
Great, sounds like the President has picked a mother in the White House. To protect the POTUS? He needs no protection, he needs to hear what the people on the street are saying. If the President has a soul, and I sincerely hope he does, then he needs to show it with words and deeds. So far, it's been a big disappointment. Mr. president, the time for not making any sudden moves is over, you got 2 months.
Yes, Dr. Spencer did a very heroic thing. But I wonder about whether a person who does such deeds might rationalize his own actions by unduly minimizing the risk to himself, and ultimately, to others.
The time of quiet men determined to do good deeds is gone. Who among us would do such heroic acts today?
