Treatment For Heart Murmur

"Rush on world, the voice of Rome seems to murmur: ambition will founder, conquest will unravel, riches will be lost, power will be dissipated, palaces will crumble, great loves will end, borders will be redrawn; and you, shed at last of your illusions, will be left to find comfort in beauty, family, your corner of the city, and a steaming plate of bucatini all’amatriciana."

Dude.

These are not "wars" meant to be "won" or "lost," these are urgent security hot spots around which we must build architectures of concerted cooperation and partnership to fight radical death cults like ISIL and others who would execute children in streets, as their parents watch, as they murmur to their "god" how they do all of this torturous act in the name of this "god."

These are not "wars." This is chemotherapy for society.

In George Orwell’s political satire, “Animal Farm,” there is that classic statement, “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” In the U.S., this statement is literally true.

Like most other dog owners, I was horrified when I learned about Michael Vick’s treatment of dogs. But then we aren’t equally horrified when we learn about how we treat our farm animals, not just pigs, but hens and cows as well. It is quite heart breaking and yet, we judge other cultures that consume animals that we hold dear as pets. This hypocrisy needs to end.

Thank you, Mr. Maher and the NYT, for exposing this inhumane treatment of pigs. And, congratulations for being a vegetarian – it’s the most healthy and humane thing to be. I am striving to get there and your column does help in this regard.

Thanks you Angelina. You are a beautiful women with a beautiful heart. Now I hope that you can encourage women in the developing and undeveloped countries to get awareness about this terrible disease. The cost associated with testing and treatment are simply too expensive to bear.

I also thought of the destruction of the Buddhist statues in Afghanistan. When that was done, there was hardly a murmur. There is little tolerance for other religions in many muslim countries. That being said, humans are divided by false thoughts about religion, ethnicity, culture, language, customs, and on and on. At some point the relativity of all these things may been seen clearly and perhaps there will be a chance of peace. Or, alternatively we will wipe our species out through stupidity.

Hey #2, Walterrhett, what makes you think this is something new? This horrific treatment of women and girls has been going on for thousands of years. It's just lately that some people have started thinking that well, maybe...women really are people after all. I appreciate your being appalled as any human being with a heart and conscience would be, but again, this is nothing new. Women and girls have always been and still are, treated like dirt.
